Printing, Paper and Frames

Giclée printing

Giclée is a high-end digital printing technique that produces high-quality fine art prints with exceptional colour accuracy, sharpness, and longevity. It uses a specialised printer with archival pigment-based inks to produce prints on high-quality fine art paper or canvas.

The term "giclée" comes from the French word "gicler," which means "to spray." The process involves spraying tiny droplets of ink onto the paper or canvas, resulting in a print that is both precise and detailed.

The quality and longevity of giclée prints are due to the use of archival pigment-based inks, which are fade-resistant and can last for decades without fading or deteriorating. The fine art papers and canvases used in giclée printing are also of high quality, ensuring that prints have a long lifespan.

We use two different types of paper for our prints. Enhanced Matte Art paper and Hahnemühle Photo Rag. Our framed prints are available on EMA paper, while frameless prints are available in both EMA and HPR.

Enhanced Matte Art Paper

Enhanced Matte Art Paper 200gsm is a premium quality heavyweight fine art print material with a smooth, clean finish. This museum-quality paper is extremely consistent and works perfectly with large, full colour graphics or illustrations.

The matte finish emphasises different highlights and tones in the source artworks; helping to create stunning works of art.

Hahnemühle Photo Rag (Premium)

Hahnemühle Photo Rag 320gsm is a heavyweight fine art paper that has become a popular choice among photographers, artists, and printmakers for its exceptional quality and versatility. This paper is made from 100% cotton, which makes it acid-free and pH neutral, ensuring its longevity and resistance to fading over time.
